Barry Calvagna Are The Two New York Musicians

Vinny Malanga and Barry Calvagna are the two New York musicians that make up new band New York Avenue. The rock and hard rock band, currently with Indie label Huntington Records, have recently released their debut album and are planning to record more in the near future. Barry Calvagna’s musical influences include the likes of Bowie, Kiss, Alice Cooper, and Led Zeppelin and their music has been classed as pop, rock, hard rock, and contemporary country music. It’s also reasonable to assume that you can hear some Steve Vai undertones in the music too.

One of Barry Calvagna’s first bands was the high school heavy rock band called Ravge. Steve Vai joined the band in the 1970s and together they played covers of the bands mentioned above while also introducing some of their own originally written tracks. The members of Ravge were close and, on his website, Vai claimed that it was like being in a family and that he considered it to be the first time he had been in a band with real friends.

New York Avenue combines the music of classic rock bands with more modern and updated sounds. Barry Calvagna’s vocals are strong and can be likened to those of rockers like Bon Jovi. Their debut album is titled “Third Time’s a Charm” and it is currently available for download from iTunes, ZooMoozik, and CDBaby. Currently playing under Indie label Huntington Records, Barry Calvagna and New York Avenue will almost certainly be recording and releasing more of their original, fresh tracks in the near future.
